Fram Museum
Oslo, Norway
by Kjell & Lois Evensen
The Fram Museum is located in Oslo
Fjord near downtown Oslo.
We arrived from Oslo most appropriately by shuttle
boat.
The museum complex houses the ship Fram and
provides a great deal
of history about ships, ship building,
and exploration in the early 20th century.
The museum commerates and celebrates
famous Norwegian shipbuilders and explorers.

His statue stands before that ship.

Master Ship Designer and Shipbuilder
Builder of Fram
The museum building was built around
the ship Fram.
Inside we were able to view the ship from several
levels and to go
aboard to explore the lower decks.
Displays around the ship depict the
regions where Fram sailed.
The most advanced technology of the
day was onboard Fram when she sailed.
On deck we were able to walk around
and get the feel of the ship up close.
Below the decks we saw how the explorers
lived,
entertained themselves,
the types of supplies they took along,
some of the extra parts,
and even the tents they used when
they went ashore.
As we left the museum area we passed
old boats on display.
The visit to Fram is highly recommended
for anyone visiting Oslo, Norway. |
