Part III
Splendour of the Seas
Sails Out Of
Geiranger Fjord, Norway
Late Afternoon and Evening
The sun sparkled on the water as the anchor
was raised and we left Geiranger at 5 PM.
These lovely communities dot the shoreline where
there is even a small area of land where homes
can be built.
We again passed "The Seven Sisters" waterfalls...
...and "The Bottle," this time with the light
more in our favor.
As we passed a ferry, the sound of the ships'
horns echoed through the fjord.
People in a small boat waved...
...as we continued to record the beautiful images
all around us.
Soon a boat carrying Splendour passengers
returning from a tour pulled up alongside...
...and the passengers boarded just in time for
dinner.
This zoomed image of a farmhouse on the side of
the fjord...
...is the little dot of white in the center of
this image.
We passed a mining operation.
Note the tunnel entrance toward the right, at the
water's edge.
Small vacation cabins cling to the side of the
fjord.
This farmhouse...
...site atop this mountain and commands
a glorious view of the fjord.
As we sailed out to sea, we saw more and more small
communities along the flatter shoreline. |
