Subject:First-time Cruise
Well, I'm planning on taking my first cruise in April of 2008. It's a 4-day Mexican cruise on the Monarch or the Seas. I've been doing a lot of research because I want to be well prepared and not stressed out on one of the few vacations I have ever taken. While I've been able to find out most of what I want to know via the main website, there are some things I haven't been able to find. For instance, I know some cruises have shampoo/conditioner/body wash supplied in the bathrooms. Is this one of them? I see information about casual dress and slacks being alright in the main dining room for dinner. Are jeans and a nice shirt also acceptable? I'm really looking for any little tidbits of information not on Royal Caribbean's website that could end up being important. Any help is much appreciated!

Subject: First time on a cruise
My family will be taking our first cruise in March on the Mariner of the Sea. I would like some advise. We will be flying in to Orlando hopefully the Saturday before our Sunday departure. Should we rent a car or use shuttle service to get to and from? Is it better to stay in Orlando or Port Canaveral? Our daughter is 13 and we are a bit concerned about her activities. She will not have a friend with her and will know no one else on the trip. One reason we selected RCCL was because the activity groups were broken down into smaller age groups. How is the program for the 12-14 year olds? I don't like the idea of her age group mixing with the older teens. It appeared that a teen club was a mixing area for the younger and older teens and this makes me a bit uncomfortable. How much supervision is involved with this and with the teen activities in general. I want to give my daughter time to mix with her peers and do her own thing but I want to be protective of her at the same time.

Subject: Review - Navigator of the Seas - August 28 - September
8, 2007
We have just returned from a Baltic & Scandinavia cruise sailing out of Southampton, UK and we had a fantastic time, so much so that this morning we have booked for Sept 08 for an Eastern Mediterranean cruise again on the Navigator. We travelled down to Southampton with a little trepidation because we had read some unfavourable reviews of this ship on othr sites but from our experience the people who wrote those bad reviews must be hyper-critical. We had a great time! One of the reasons for choosing a large ship is my husband's tendency to sea-sickness but although at times we felt some movement, most of the time you would think you were on terra firma.
Our stateroom, on deck 8, was a good size and the bathroom was OK for us as neither of us are tall or large. I have, in fact, been in a lot more cramped bedrooms in city hotels.
Our itinerary was:
Gdynia (for Gdansk)- unfortunately Poland is still recovering from it's past and was not the most memorable port of call.
Stockholm - lovely to walk through the old town and this area was appx 30 min walk from where the ship was berthed.
Tallin - not as pretty as I expected but we did a tour and visited what was called "shadows of the Soviet past", this proved to be very interesting and educational. We were given an interview with a lady who had been sent to prison and exiled in Siberia by the Russians - this was a very enlightening talk.
Helsinki - this was taken out of the itinerary a month or so before departure because of dredging problems at the port - pity but obviously couldn't be helped.
Copenhagen - we visited this city last year independantly so we just wandered around, it's a lovely place and plenty to see and do. Oslo - I was pleasantly surprised by this city, compact and accesible and the ship docks right in the centre.
On board ship, we did all the usual things that others on this site already know about. The ice shows were brilliant and we were amazed at the size of the Metropole theatre - the guest singer from the West End was very good as was the Elton John tribute act.
We looked in on the art auctions but did not part with any money. Had a few games of bingo and I was pleased to win $184, not bad for someone who does not bother with this pastime in the UK.
Finally, to our waiters - Monica and Anthony, their service and attention was 1st class.

Subject: Review - Liberty of the Seas - August 25 - September 1,
2007
Back again for my review of the Liberty of the seas 8/25/07 sailing . In a ward WOW !!!! Great ship First off this was the last of our back to back cruises with a 4 day stay in Lago Mar resort on the beach in Ft Laderdale .Great place to stay before any cruise !! We did this cruise maily for the ship itself . Having been to the W.Caribbean on cruises over 20 times !! Frist off RCCI has to have the every best getting on & off there ships in port of Mimai !! We got on the ship at 11am .Got our bages to the cabin by the time we were able to get in to the cabin around 1pm !!
The our cabin was 9374 .Wow a good size cabin with a veranda witch was very deep !! We were travling with our 2 boys 15 & 16 . So there was alot of room in the cabin .I think on this class of RCCI ships ,the cabins are the biggest in the fleet !!
The food well this was our 3rd RCCI cruise this year the other's being the Majesty of the seas the week before this cruise. And the Empress of the seas doing an 11 day cruise out of san Juan 2/25/07 !! Both great cruises also . This was our 10 RCCI cruise out of our 69 cruise we have done . We use to rate the food on RCCI a 4 out of 10 being the hightest !! Now we rate it between 6 & 7 now it"s that much better .Just our opion !! But would not call it the best cruise food we have had !! The WindJammer is a great place to eat very big with no lines . Love the Johny Rockets ,best apple pie alamo and sakes anywhere !! The main dinning room is very big 3 decks hight !! The food was very good here also !! And great service .
The shows maybe the best we ever seen on our past 69 cruises ,just great .Even the ice show was great we love it !! We didn't miss a show on this cruise .The lounges were really good like the last week on the Majesty of the seas ,we didn't get back to our cabin untill around 2am .The night life was great also !!!
Up on deck well there is 3 pool areas on this ship .The H2O zone is a water park for young kids ,wish they had it when our boys were young .What a great place !! Then the main pool area where everything take place .It,s realy big 2 pool side by side .We always got 2 chairs by the pool every day .But at times it did get crowed .But you could always get lounges on the upper decks !! And then there"s the aduit are pool with 2 big hot tubs hanging over both sides of the ship .I always use them in the morring coming in to pool .Wow it was great !! And there a huge gym on board it has everything in it !! And at the stean there the world famus Fow Rider !! My boys did it i didn"t i have a bed knee !! And a great basletball count .Rock climming wall and Mini golf !! On the main deck we everything is it feels like a floating mall !! Thats where the praides are held and the 70"s party !! Very big and great !!
Ports like i said before we have been to the W Caribbean meny times in the past .So we only shop on this cruise !! Had a great beach day in Laberdee !! Boy it was hat !! .We like the ports better on the Majsety last weeks cruise !! About 50% of our cruises now are for the ships !! not so much the ports of call !! This was one of them .And it truned out just great .
last thoughts on the Libery of the seas !! Bring your walking shoes
shes a big ship !!! Like i said the food we find much inproved !! And the
show"s were great Don"t miss the ice show !!I can"t beleive RCCI has a
class of ships the will be 225.00 ton"s that may be just to big .We found
the ship very big !! Would i do this ship again not realing we like trying
new ships each time out .But i would try the freedom or the New Ind. coming
out next summer.Don"t get me wrong the cruise and ship were great !! Just
alittle big for us !! But the cabins are very big .I
think this ship would be great for frist time cruisers .and if you
cruise alot .I think you must try this class of ship non like them on the
hight seas !!
In clossing we had a great time on both the Majesty & Liberty of the seas .A great cruise line .Our next cruises will be on the HAL Nooram a brand new ship doing an 11 day S.Caribbean cruise out of NYC 2/16/08 Then an 9 night Canada cruise out of Bay. NJ Cap Libety 8.28/08 . On the Exploer of the seas . Hope you enjoy our review on the Liberty of the seasa a great time was had by all !!

Subject: Review - Majesty of the Seas - August 20 - 24, 2007
First off a big thanks to the host of this site she does a great job .And it was great meeting her on the Majesty ! Now for the review .The Majesty just had a makeover and came back on line last Feb. Boy they did a great job .Now we never cruised on her before .But did do the 3rd cruise on her sister ship SOS back in 1988!! And the feeling we had walking on board the Majesty of the seas was the same feeling we had walking on the SOS way back in 1988 great !! That"s the kind of job that was done on the Majesty she feel new!!
The cabins are small on this class of RCCI ship and dosen"t have the alot of balcony cabins ,like on her newer sisters !! i.e Liberty of the seas, witch, with the Majesty was part of our B2B cruises we did on both ships this vacation !The Windjammer is so much better then before the food is also better ! They added a great place to eat Johnny Rockets !! Best apple pie alamo & shakes anywhere !! The food in the main dinning room was very good .One thing about the food on Royal Caribbean it"s so much better then a few years ago !! Ok this was our 10 Royal Caribbean cruise and 69th over all !! We never when on RCCI for the food always the over all cruise witch we think is the best of all the cruise lines .We use to rate RCCI food before this year as a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10 !! Now we rate it be between 6&7 it got that much better ! Now i wouldn"t call it the best cruise food we ever had .But it was very good.
The shows where great this is a storge point with RCCI they were very good !! The lounges were very good .We didn"t get back to the cabin untill after 2 am every night .The night life is very good on this ship !!
The pool area i love it"s big with a lot of lonuges to site by the pool We alway got one anytime !! I realy think the pool area on this class of RCCI ships is the best in the fleet !! Everything go"s on here"s it's great.
The ports for the week were Co Co Cay it rainned there .But we still had a good time .I got an hours nap in one of the Hamacks just great .Love Co Co cay even in the rain !!! The next port was Nassau did some shopping and took the ferry over to Pad.Island .Great beach day .And i think the best port of the cruise Kay west .It was great the wearther was great .Now we have been to thes island meny times on orther cruise .But we love them all !!
Last thoughts of the Majesty of the seas . She looks and feel like a new ship great job Royal Caribbean .Like i said the food is better now !! The shows and night life is great . And the service was great .my 2 boy"s 15 %& 16 had a great time . And they used room service everyday when watching movies in the cabin. It was great !! The boy"s liked cruise Even better then on the Liberty of the seas witch was the next weeks cruise !! This was the 2nd of 3 cruises we had done on RCCI this year alone !! Frist was an 11 day Empress of the seas cruise out of San Juan back in feb .and this cruise on the Majesty of the seas .and the next week on the brand new Liberty of the seas WOW what a ship !!And we are booked to do a 9 day Canada cruise round trip from Bayonna NJ 8/28/08 .But before that cruise we will be doing an 11 day cruise 2/16/08 on the HAL Noordam out of NYC frist wintertime cruise from NYC .We live in NJ !!
