Subject: Shopping SNAFU posted last week
Here's an update. I hope to report relatively soon that this issue has been taken care of.
After 10 days - I'm guardedly optimistic that my dumb shopping mis-adventure in Corfu may be resolved. The ONBOARD MEDIA people who are listing on the back of all the daily shipboard shopping directions, has acted as the middle person, and are making progress. They've called about every 48 hours with updates, the store is willing to have me return the bracelet and ring for a full refund. I was uncomfortable dealing directly with them - so I've sent the items to Miami --- Onboard Media will get to the ship, and they'll return. So far so good. I've looked at the schedule -- and it looks like the BR will be in Corfu next Thursday (to soon to get the goods to them), but also returns for her last sailing the week of Nov. 23. I hope to report back then that my credit card has been refunded.

Subject: For Misty taking her first cruise on the Monarch
I believe that the smaller ships, doing shorter itinerairs, are not offering the shampoo, lotion and cleansing gels. Apparently, many were not be used (or all used the first night, and guests wanting some for each additional night .... which might be abusing the use, just a little). I would suggest taking your own -- and being pleasantly surprised if they were available. As far as jeans in the dining room - all guests are asked and it's printed in the daily compass NOT to wear jeans in the dining room at night. Do a few people do so - yes. For those who want an informal dinner with informal dress, the Windjammer (the informal dining area on the ship) offers the same food the dining rooms serves, without the need to dress more formally and dine at a pre-set time. It sounds like you may have other questions. I'd be happy to try to answer them, or you may find a customer service number on the RCCL website and I'm sure someone there would be able to help you.

Subject: Formal nights on a 14-night transatlantic cruise
In response to the question about the number of formal nights, we just returned from a 12-night Mediterannean cruise, and we had 3 forml nights. The additional night was the night we left Venice (so it wasn't an eventing of a sea day, which is the norm.) I've found that a pair of dressy black pants and two nice tops ..... and one other formal outfit can get me through three formal nights, and that's just one extra piece to take.

Subject: An Awful Shopping Experince with a ship approved store
For the first time ever, we purchased jewelry from a ship approved store and returned to Michigan and found I'd paid almost 60% more than the appraised price. We're now working back through the OnBoard media group that handles these issues. I have my receipts and appraisals.
Has anyone had similar problems? Have they been solved to your satisfaction? We're waiting now -- after submitting our proof of purchase and the appraisals we had done ...... and I'm very nervous.
We were on Corfu, Greece at the time, and it just seems this may be an awful process to go through and I am so afraid we've lost the money. I guess I take a patience pill and wait.
Any thoughts or experiences would be helpful. This is the first time we've ever had this happen with RCCL after multiple cruises.

Subject: Villefranche
I just returned from a European vacation 2 days ago. Flew into Milan and with my husband drove west yo Nice but happened to (luckily) find ville Franche. I was so impressed. We only had 1 day there and stayed in a small hotel overloking the water. I am thrilled to find your website as we also travel the world. Was wondering if you could recmmend a small, clean hotel boutique style within walking distance of the sea and shopping areas, markets etc in Ville Franche. I am taking my daughter either December or March and would like to walk to restaurants, beach, shopping instead of driving. Also, is the Nice airport the best to fly into and can you make any suggestions on other sites in the area? Thank You so much for such a wonderful website!!!!!!!!! Hope to hear from you soon. Vikki
Hi Vikki,
Yes, Villefranche is fantastic. Since our usual visits to Villefranche are by ship, our hotel experience is limited. We have found the Welcome Hotel to be quite nice, though.
There are plenty of things to see and do within walking distance of the Welcome Hotel. If you are interested in seeing Monaco, you can take a public bus for a day trip from Villefranche.
Thank you for your kind comments about my web pages. :)
Very best,
Lois

Subject: rFormal Nights on Transatlantic Cruises
Can anyone advise... how many formal nights are there on 14/15 night transatlantic cruises, RCCL say 3 but on my last 14 night cruise there were only 2. Due to luggage restrictions on flights from UK it would be useful to have this information.
