we sailed from Galveston in really bad weather (the edge of a tornado} and this really windy sometimes gale force winds continued right accross the Atlantic until we reached Spain. At one point we had 14 foot waves. I travelled with my husband from London, England on a British Airways flight into Houston and it took three hours to clear customs. Houston was very enjoyable over the five days prior to the cruise that we stayed there at the Baymont Inn North, which i would highly recommend. Houston weather was very good. The ship was very beautiful and nicely kept. Cabins had plenty of drawer space but ours on the 6th deck was very noisy due to it being under the swimming pool which apparently they clean with machinery, sometimes waking us at 3 o'clock in the morning with an explosion as the machinery switches off. One thing we were surprised at is that we had to vacate the ship at 8.30 in the morning but our flight was not until 6 o'clock at night. No mention of this was made at any time during the cruise or in their brochure. Complaints to head of customer care on board was not any good and handled badly making us think that we will not travel with Royal Carribbean Cruises again. We have had five other Cruises with other Criuise Lines and have always been allowed to stay on board in the lounges until nearer your flight time. Food in main dining room was very similar to that in the Windjammer ( casual Eating place) except they gave it fancy names and you got less. Entertainment was amaturish and too much singing and dancing. One excellent act was Bob Arno ( a pickpocket). We were supposed to have late night comedy but the only time they did this it was done in Spanish. The library was supposed to have 2000 books, but i think most of them must have fallen overboard as it was very sparse and stayed so all through the cruise. The band in the Centrum was good but, unfortunately, only played the same melodies every night. Food was pl entiful and you could eat at most times of the day but meats were very plastic and processed and menues were not varied much from day to day. A special mention should be made for the deserts which were very good. Daytime activities were overlapping so you could not join in all the things you would like to do and as virtually all of these took place outdoors the weather stopped us from participating and their was not an alternative indoor programme. Not much thought was put into organisation.
